Citizen of the Year awards

The search to find the Citizen of the Year and Young Citizen of the Year 2012 has started.

Do you know someone who has made an exceptional contribution to the Epping Forest community? If that person is a resident of the district, show your appreciation and nominate them for an award.

 

Citizen of the Year

This prestigious award goes to someone who has given their time and energy, on a voluntary basis, to benefit the local community and is open to anyone in the Epping Forest district.

Citizen of the Year

Nominees don’t have to be well-known or involved in major events. It could be anyone, just as long as their efforts benefit local people.

All nominations must be made by 2 people along with a reason why the person should receive the award.

    Nominees should be:
  • someone who has shown outstanding courage
  • someone who has done something of great benefit to you or your community
  • someone who has shown extraordinary commitment, energy and effort in their particular field or towards achieving a particular goal

The deadline for applications is 25 November 2011. The awards panel will consider all nominations and the awards will be presented at the annual civic reception on 9 March 2012.

Young Citizen of the Year

The Young Citizen of the Year Award is presented annually to a young person, aged 11 to 18, in recognition of an exceptional contribution to the Epping Forest community.

Young Citizen of the Year 2012

Nominators should provide the following information to support the application:

- the achievements of the young person over the past year,
- how this young person has contributed towards improving the life of others in their community, school or college,
- the name of the organisation, community group, school team etc ... that this young person is a member of, or has participated in,
- details of any particular difficulties or challenging circumstances, which this young person may have had to overcome.

    Nominees must be:
  • aged 11 to 18 years old
  • live in the Epping Forest district

Closing date for nominations is Friday 6 January 2012. The winner of the Young Citizen of the Year award will be invited to attend the Civic Awards ceremony on 9 March 2012 to receive their certificate and a cheque for £100.
