Equality Information

Equality information reflects the protected characteristics of service users and employees, and quantitative and qualitative information in respect of equality issues and outcomes. The publication of equality information is designed to make decision-making transparent and help to explain how and why decisions have been made, enabling interested parties to assess the Council’s equality performance. Equality information can also help to understand patterns and trends and the effects of the Council’s policies and practices. The Council is publishing a range of equality information on this section of the website.

Equality Report

A range of  relevant equality information has been compiled into an Equality Report, to demonstrate the progress that the Council has made and how it is meeting the Public Sector Equality Duty. The Equality Report will be updated on an annual basis, and can be downloaded by clicking the link below. .

Workforce Equality Information

The Council publishes a range of equality data and information in respect of its employees and workforce. This data and information can be viewed and downloaded by clicking here.

Knowing Our Communities

The Council has a significant evidence base to inform its equality priorities and objectives. The Local Strategic Partnership (LSP) for the district, ‘One Epping Forest’, has published a data profile of the district entitled ‘Shaping The Future’, containing information on the make-up of the population of the district, to support the Community Strategy for 2010 to 2031. The data profile is supported by detailed ward profiles, that bring together data at a local level. These profiles are used widely throughout the Council in processes such as impact assessment and analysis.

The Council has previously used biennial resident surveys to assess satisfaction with its services, and to seek views and perceptions on the quality of life in the district. 'Shaping The Future’, the ward profiles, and the reports of the most recent resident surveys have been published on the LSP's website as part of a mini 'Data Observatory', which can be accessed by clicking the link below.

Equality Analysis

Equality analysis and assessment is an important part of the Council's approach to equality, and is a way of systematically assessing the effects that our policies, projects and decisions are likely to have on different people. Equality analysis aids good decision making and ensures that the services we provide are fair and accessible to all. You can view our current assessments by clicking here.

Compliments and Complaints

The Council undertakes equality monitoring through its Compliments and Complaints Scheme. The scheme information booklet includes an equal opportunities monitoring form, which is also part of arrangements for the submission of compliments and complaints on-line, through this website. When compliments or complaints are submitted using the scheme form either by post or on-line, these monitoring forms are separated from the compliment/complaint form so that it can't be matched to specific individuals. It is not therefore possible for the Council to attribute a certain type of individual (e.g. with a disability or over a particular age ) to types of compliment or complaint (e.g. about specific functions or services). Additionally, a majority of compliments and complaints are made by letter or telephone call rather than using the scheme form, and  a monitoring form is not submitted in these cases. Equality monitoring information is collated each year for report to members of the Council, and the returns for 2009/10 and 2010/11 can be downloaded below.
