Paying your rent to the Council

Our online payment service will allow you to pay the following council bills by debit card:-

Council Property Rents and Garage Rents
Leasehold charges
Council Tax
Business Rates
Sundry Debtor invoices
Housing Benefits Overpayments

The system is available 24 hours a day. Just follow the on-screen instructions to pay your rent. You can print the information on the screen when you have finished, or you can request an email confirmation to prove you have paid. Click here to make payments online.

Swipe cards. Using your allpay Rent Payment Card you can pay your council property or garage rent at one of our cash desks by cash, cheque, debit card or credit card. If you prefer to use a credit card there will be a charge which is currently between 1.6% and 2% of the total payment, depending on the card you use. You can also pay using cash at any UK PayPoint outlet, or you can pay by cash, cheque or debit card at any Post Office™. You can also pay, by cheque or postal order only, at the Traps Hill Information Desk in Loughton. Please remember to bring your Rent Payment Card or Garage Payment Card along with the payment. If your card is lost or damaged please phone 01992 564429 for a replacement.

Text message. Another way to pay is by sms text message. First you need to register your details online at https://www.allpayments.net. To do this you will need your Rent Payment Card, email address, mobile phone number, debit card or credit card. Once you have registered, you can text the amount you wish to pay on 81025 and it will be deducted from your account. You will be sent a text to confirm your payment has been processed.

Telephone payments. To use the Council’s automated 24 hour telephone payment line (01992) 564600 you will need a debit card or credit card. Give the account number under your name on your card.

Paying by credit card? Please note that a charge is made for using credit cards because we pass on the charge made to us by your bank. You will be advised of the charge before your payment is finalised.

Direct Debit. Direct Debit is the simplest way to pay your council property or garage rent. It saves time, and many people find it is more convenient. We offer a choice of payment dates to help you organise your finances. You can pay on the 18th, 25th or 28th of each month.
