Animal Welfare

SwanThe Animal Welfare Team at Epping Forest District Council undertake the functions of dog warden in relation to strays and promote responsible pet ownership, deal with sick and injured wild animals and provide education on a range of animal related themes.

The Animal Welfare Team carry out a statutory duty to inspect those premises requiring a licence such as riding establishments and pet shops.

Companion Dog Show

The Companion Dog Show 2010 will be held on on Sunday 6 June 2009 at Town Mead Park in Brooker Road, Waltham Abbey. Event details can be found in the link below.

Animal Welfare Competition 2009

The Animal Welfare Team would like you assistance in promoting the welfare of our native reptiles and amphibians and to encourage residents to make them welcome in their gardens.

From May to September 2009 we are asking members of the public to survey their gardens and tell us what wildlife they find. From the information gathered we hope to gain a better understanding of the important role gardens are playing for wildlife, specifically amphibians and reptiles. The Animal Welfare Act is a new law that will provide much greater protection for animals.
